Our correspondent曾敏捷reports: All Shopping H.K. hosted by Hong Kong Commerce and Industry Associations (“HKCNIA”), is to be held for three days running from New Year’s Eve. In the event, there are over 800 shop participants offering discounts from 5% to 50% for a good many products including basic necessities of life like Crocodile T-shirts (50% off), meals in Chinese restaurants with a special price (50% off) and canned daces (HK$1 to get one canned dace
conditionally ). Lee Yuk Lun, president of HKCNIA, expected additional HK$6 million of consumption would be stimulated. He guaranteed that the event bringing along special offers would be held at least once per year, hoping to hold an event per month in the future, which would be beneficial to citizens and shops to create a win-win situation.
Half price clothes and jewellery 12% off
HKCNIA gave out soy sauces, spring couplets and calendars, etc. as gifts to Sham Shui Po residents yesterday to promote All Shopping H.K. to be held from 31 December 2013 to 1 February 2014. Lee Yuk Lun said the inspiration was drawn from “thanksgiving” and hoped that special offers could be given to residents as contribution to society. Shops in different districts of Hong Kong are invited to join this event.
Lee Yuk Lun said that over 200 brands and 800 shops had agreed to join the All Shopping H.K. and promised to offer discounts for a galaxy of products, though some of them were still under negotiation. In estimation, there will be nearly 1,000 shop participants. The shops offering discounts are mainly the local and non-chain stores who offer 5% to 50% discounts, for example, 50% off for Crocodile T-shirts, 12% off for 3-D Gold Jewellery diamond products and HK$1 to get one canned dace for at least $68 purchase in supermarkets, etc. The estimation on All Shopping H.K. run by HKCNIA on 1 July suggests that additional HK$6 million of consumption will be stimulated, in turn promoting regional economy. Each family can enjoy up to discounts valued around HK$500 to HK$600.
Creating a win-win environment with no fear for negative stories
Lee Yuk Lun showed no worries about the negative stories stating that All Shopping H.K. on 1 July was designed to serve as a distraction to draw people from the demonstration on the same day. He reiterated that this event was beneficial to both citizens and shop participants and created a win-win environment. He promised for more events offering discounts in the future, hoping for holding the event on monthly basis after 2 to 3 years so that more discounts can be granted. He added HKCNIA was discussing with 3 or 4 travel agencies at the moment for discounts offered to the underprivileged families in the prospective events so that they can have a change to go travelling. Moreover, HKCNIA would find sponsors for the deprived so that even poor children can stand a chance to study abroad. Ms. Lee, who lives in Sham Shui Po, is pleased to see the discounts offered by the shops in the shopping festival and hopes to get more discounts for clothes and food. Mr. Chow, who lives in Tseung Kwan O, thinks that the event would help to improve shopping sentiment and in turn stimulate consumption.
